What Makes ECAV Unique Compared to All Other AV Drawing Solutions?
Drawing Structure and Efficiency
- Design-to-Engineering Workflow - Begin with a conceptual design and logically work toward the engineering details of your project
- Project Phase Drawing Process - ECAV drawings are progressively created based on workflow and each drawing type relates to its project phase allowing you to provide the required documents before a particular project phase begins
- Drawing Layout and Alignment Aids - Each drawing page type provides unique drawing grids, color-coded guides, and snap and glue settings for easy drawing layout and alignment
- One-Step Drawing Page Duplication - For larger projects, you can easily duplicate pages at any stage of completion while maintaining the page's unique drawing aids
- Data Linking and Symbol Creation - Easily link your drawing symbols to rows of data in your product database. The linking process populates the symbols with all the needed data and can also create your symbols directly on the page
- Compact Symbol Data Forms - ECAV provides a specially designed Symbol Form to easily and quickly view and change the symbol data in your drawings
- Symbol Transformation - The Copy Shapes feature automatically transforms device and wire symbols into their corresponding symbols on other drawing page types
- Automatic Symbol Naming - New device symbols are conveniently and automatically named by manufacturer and model number when dropped into their custom stencils
- Built-in Tutorials - Each drawing page has an ECAV Help layer with a video link and help topics associated with its particular page type
Drawing Clarity and Readability
- Single-Page Drawings with Reports - ECAV eliminates job-site page clutter with pages that are clean, easy to read, and include any installation data reports regardless of project size or complexity
- Floor-Room-Area Layout Hierarchy - The use of building space outlines on the drawings clearly define where every device and wire in the project is located
- Device Category Colors - System category colors for device symbols provide visual continuity of the systems used and shown on the floor plan, block diagram and schematic diagram pages of the project
- Visual Product Status - All device symbols can show new, existing or future device status
- Real-World Wire Symbols - All wire symbols can represent any standard or custom wire type including number of conductors, real-world jacket color, color stripe, and wire function. All wire text stays in proper prospective when moving the wire or wire-ends saving time by positioning the text only once. Wires can be labeled manually or sequentially by using the Wire ID Labeling feature
- Flexible and Movable Symbol Attributes - All device and wire symbols provide attribute placeholders for important data. Some attributes can be shown on the symbol itself with the ability to move and reset the attribute's position
- Next Wire Label ID Display - A convenient placeholder on the page's title block showing the page's or system's next wire label ID
The Drawings
- Pre-configured Title Page - Each new project begins with the Title page. All basic project and company information including regional settings, pre-wire length, page size, and project revisions are entered on this page
AV Floor Plan
- Pre-configured Drawing Page- The scaled AV Floor Plan page is pre-configured with appropriate snap and glue settings for easy drawing layout and alignment
- Globally Resizable Plan Symbols - All AV plan symbols on a page are conveniently resized from any one plan symbol providing approprietly-sized plan symbols regardless ot the floor plan background image size or scale used
- Improved J-STD-710 Plan Symbols - ECAV has taken the J-STD-710 symbol standard to a higher level with more real-world plan symbols, categories and colors. The symbols can establish pinpoint device locations on the floor plan and can show extensive device data including distances and direction angles to other points on the drawing as well as coverage areas and angles for access points, security cameras and projector lenses and motion sensors
- Customizable Plan Symbols - ECAV provides the ability to easily create any unique custom symbol in seconds using the symbol's Load Icon feature
- Automatic Page Legend - The AV floor plan legend automatically keeps track of all AV floor plan device symbols for easy device symbol identification and quantity
Full-System Block Diagram
- Pre-configured Drawing Page - The Block Diagram page is pre-configured with appropriate drawing grids, color-coded guides, and snap and glue settings for easy drawing layout and alignment
- Design Independently of Product Selection - Brainstorm your full project layouts before making product choices, or design on-the-fly by picking products as you go. Either way, you’ll have an accurate picture with the necessary details to establish sales quotes and unambiguous full-system designs
- Auto Totaling of Headend Wires - Each headend wire group symbol visualy keeps track of matching room wire totals and automatically sends its wire-type information including its connected headend device to the matching room wires in the block diagram
- Data-Inheriting Symbols - Block diagram symbols automatically inherit their location and connected equipment from the rooms they're in and their headend source
- Symbol Transformation - Block device and wire symbols can be transformed into their corresponding schematic and rack symbols on their drawing pages
- One-Step Legend and Reports - Automatically generate the page legend, prewire schedules sorted by wire type, room or wire ID, and project BoMs sorted by manufacturer or room, by simply dropping the corresponding report's symbol on the page
Headend and Room Schematics
- Pre-configured Drawing Pages - The headend and room schematic pages are pre-configured with appropriate drawing grids, color-coded guides, and snap and glue settings for easy drawing layout and alignment
- Integrated Card Frame and Plug-In Card Device Symbols - Easily create either stand-alone (card frame) or plug-in card devices with one click. Input, output and input/output cards glue to card frames so the complete device symbol moves together
- Multi-Function Schematic Wires - Schematic wires can either be input, output, input/output, or interconnect wires by selecting the wire type in the wire's shape data
- Industry Standard and Custom Wire Termination Symbols - Schematic I/O wire connection details are shown using wire termination symbols. Each I/O port on a schematic device symbol can refer to a specific wire termination symbol by its Detail number. Industry standard examples and customizable terminations are provided and show all connector pinouts, conductor labels, colors, and functions eliminating techs from having to look elsewhere for product termination details
- Device Power Groups - Schematic devices can be assigned to different power groups to prevent overloading of the connected power sources and power management devices. The power group number is shown on the schematic device symbols to easily reference the connected power source
- Wire Reference Symbols - Simple, two-part wire reference symbols with multiple shape, color and text choices prevent wire clutter in schematic drawings with no loss of connection information. Power references can show wall-wart and power-pack model numbers
- Compact Device I/O Editor Form - Easily configure, edit or copy I/O ports of a schematic device symbol by using the Schematic Editor form. The editor can be selected from the symbol's right-click menu. Input ports are shown on the left and output ports are shown on the right side of the editor. Each port can be configured by typing or selecting items from the drop-down lists for the silkscreened Label, the Type of termination, the Polarity of the connector, and the Detail number which references the wire termination symbol on the termination page
Equipment Rack Elevations
- Pre-configured Drawing Page - The scaled equipment rack elevation page is pre-configured with appropriate snap and glue settings for easy drawing layout and alignment
- Auto Rack Sizing - Rack symbols are automatically sized from either the entered, linked or transformed symbol shape data
- Built-in Rack Ruler - Precision-scaled rack symbols have built-in rack rulers to help techs locate and install the rack equipment
- Flexible Device Mounting - Choose among integrated (rack ears), custom (shelf), or stand-alone vertical or horizontal rack mounting styles for rack devices. Rack device symbols maintain their data from either entered, linked or transformed symbols. This data is needed for rack power and ventilation reports
- Device Depth Bars - Rack, rack device, and support symbols include graphical depth-bars. These depth gauges help when positioning rack symbols to provide suitable wiring access during rack building
- One-Step Reports - Automatically generate the rack size, rack system BoM, and power and ventilation reports by simply dropping the corresponding report symbol on the page
